WHAT WE DO
Ninety-nine percent of the households we serve earn low or moderate incomes. The majority of our clients live at or below the poverty level. Even though many are employed with a steady income, they cannot make ends meet due to our region’s lack of affordable housing.
Using generally accepted guidelines that a household should spend no more than 30% of its gross income on housing, a family in Fairfax County must make over $49,000 annually to cover housing costs for an average two-bedroom rental ($1,225 per month), which is more than four times the minimum wage.
OUR TRACK RECORD
Since 1999, CAF has been the sole provider of homelessness prevention services to households in southern and western Fairfax County. We assist a large number of single parents with children as well as single adults and the disabled.
